When I search for something, The search box goes away and I get results. However, I can't tell what these results refer to.
I think it should refer to the search term much like how other search boxes work. For example
"14 Results for Cats" rather than just "14 Results"?
Secondarily it should retain the search term in the search box so that a user can refine the search term.

Perhaps we should persist the search term, so it's there if/when the user brings the search box back.

We could do two things:
1) Keep the search dropdown open on the search results page with the search term visible, or
2) what durst said above.
I'd prefer option 1, but option 2 is totally fine.

It is very weird that users can't see what they have just searched. Sometimes one would go to other pages and then comes back and they can't tell what was searched. Or sometimes the results are not relevant to what was being searched and they can't tell this either.
This should be set to higher priority.
