Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:39.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/39.0 Build ID: 20150424211423 Steps to reproduce: 1. Enable the Compose key (in my case, I set the Menu key to act as Compose.) 2. Log on to facebook.com 3. In any post, try to type a comment that includes a character created by using the Compose key. My system is running Ubuntu Vivid amd64, with default input method, the keyboard layout Brazil ABNT, and the input language Brazilian Portuguese). Actual results: Firefox crashes (OK, every once in a while it doesn't, like one out of every ten attempts). I didn't have the same issue with the same browser version anywhere else (i.e. it works in all other websites I use, and it works in other areas of Facebook, like when writing a post; it only crashes when using the Compose key to insert a special character as part of a comment to a post.) Expected results: The special character should have been entered in the comment box.
Dupe of bug 1159217? Do you have crash reports (bp-...) in about:crashes? If yes, post the links.

Yes, I think that bug 1159217 and this one are the same. I don't have crash reports. I'm using the version from the ubuntu-mozilla-daily PPA, and apparently their build disables about:crashes. This is the bug I filed with the crash report generated by Apport: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/1441900 Their automated system rejected the report because it couldn't add debug symbols to it, even though I had already added them manually. Maybe I just reported the bug in the wrong place. Still, perhaps the information there will be useful, even if it's from a build that's three weeks old.

I'll assume it's the same crash as bug 1117087. If you're able to get a crash repot with a different signature, feel free to reopen it.
