RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 1152354

People

(Reporter: connchri, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:33.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/33.0
Build ID: 20141013200324

Steps to reproduce:

1) Log in to ebay.
2) Got to Seller Manager
3) Select "Awaiting Postage", under "Sold".
4) Select all items that are awaiting postage.
5) From "Dispatch Action" dropdown menu, select "Print Postage Labels or Invoices".
6) Under "Invoice and Address Label", select "Address labels and invoice/packing slip".
7) Click Continue.
8) Within the new tab, click on the Firefox's menu icon and select print (in order to bring up print preview).
9) Print.

Actual results:

Not all invoices are rendered correctly in 'Print Preview'. The first invoice is always rendered correctly, then random pages are missing most of the information on the invoice. This occurs whether you use print preview or just directly print using Crtl+P. This occurs when multiple invoices are being printed.

This issue is, as far as I can tell, only applicable to Firefox 37.x.x. Using version 36.x.x has no issues. In addition, I can repeat this issue under Linux x64 (Ubuntu Gnome 14.04 LTS) and Windows 7 x64 (Ultimate SP1), so it appears to be platform independent.

What is printed from the printer is also identical to what is displayed in print preview, the error appears to occur at this stage.

Again, Firefox 36.x.x has no issues. I assume previous versions also have no issues as I've been using Firefox well before version 36.x.x my installations have been updating themselves. This is the first to have such issues.

Unfortunately, due to privacy, I cannot attach screenshots of customer invoices.

Expected results:

All invoices should render and print correctly, with no missing information.
"What is printed from the printer is also identical to what is displayed in print preview, the error appears to occur at this stage."

Please read as, "the error appears to occur at the rendering stage".

Kind regards, and thanks for the great browser and any help you can provide.

Chris.
Another comment:

It should be noted that I don't have any additional add-ons or extensions installed. This is with a freshly installed browser with all the default settings.
I guess your issue is a dupe of bug 1152354 which has been fixed in FF38 and higher. Could you download FF38 and test if it's fixed (or not) on your side (both print preview and output), please. https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/beta/all/

Hello,

Thanks for the swift reply.

As of this moment, I can't do a hardcopy output, but I will in a couple of hours.

I downloaded the 64bit version of FF38 for both Linux and Windows. Windows was tested in a Virtual Machine (Note: previous efforts were not in a virtual machine). In both cases, FF38 as downloaded from the links provided, still had the issue. However, again in both cases, when FF38 restarted after updating, the problem was resolved in the print preview.

Again, I'll fire off 100 invoices later and confirm that the print preview reflects what comes out on paper.

I wasn't able to confirm the sub version of FF I was using in anycase with the betas, all FF would say in the 'about' dilogue box was version 38.0, regardless if the update to this beta version had been applied.

Anyway, I'm confident that you found the issue. I'll report back later.

Cheers,

Chris.

Confirmed that it prints out fine with the latest updates applied to FF38.

Tested on Ubuntu Gnome 64bit 14.04 LTS, printing 100 invoices.

Had a look, this fella seems to be having the same issue on this bug report: 1156707
Ok, so I close your bug as dupe of 1152354. I guess ebay is just a complex case of simple testcases posted in the offending bug.
