Details

(Whiteboard: [specification][type:bug])

What did you do?
================
1. Moved the "TV app layout guide" page from

https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/Firefox_OS/TVs_connected_devices/App_Layout_Guildline

to

https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/Apps/Design/Firefox_OS_TV_UX/App_layout_guide

What happened?
==============
The page has ended up at

https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/Firefox_OS/TVs_connected_devices/App_Layout_Guildline

the following URL

https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/Apps/Design/Firefox_OS_TV_UX/App_layout_guide

redirects back to the first one.

What should have happened?
==========================
the page should be at

https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/Apps/Design/Firefox_OS_TV_UX/App_layout_guide

Is there anything else we should know?
======================================
The move didn't happened because you used the zone vanity url as the destination (no page move visible in the revision dashboard, and you likely didn't get the e-mail saying it has been completed).

I moved it to
    https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/Apps/Design/Firefox_OS_TV_UX/App_layout_guide

and all is ok (the vanity URL kicks in automatically.

I'd never heard the term "vanity URL" before, but I'm assuming you're talking about the version without Web/ included inside it?

d'oh ;-)

Thanks J-Y - I'll know how to fix this now if it ever crops up again.
Oh that's just me calling these like this (a remnant of a former community project I was contributing to and helped managed).

More than "without Web/", it is "without /docs/". (theoretically we could have https://dmo/Web/XYZ without the docs.

These URL are a nightmare. We shouldn't have bent to accept them, but some people (outside our teams) were so aggressive…
I don't know - I think they are a fairly good idea for usability; you just to be a bit mindful of them. This is the first time I've been tripped up by them, probably cos' I was tired and not paying attention.
They *may* be good for usability, but we did a MVP for them and then "forgot" to finish the future. We had ~20-30 bugs relating to people getting 404 from Marketplace, DevTools, …

Lost so many hours already.
