Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:37.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/37.0
Build ID: 20150415140819

Steps to reproduce:

install FF V37.0.2

Actual results:

Windows (7 Pro X32) now reports shortly after opening FF browser (one tab only open)
that it has used just about all the system memory. Task Manager reports FF using in excess of 90% of total system memory. A reboot is required to fix this
My FF only has one addon - AdBlock which has been there for a number of years thru various versions of FF on my PC.
This has only started since updating to the latest version

Expected results:

no memory reports should occur.
OS: Unspecified → Windows 7
Hardware: Unspecified → x86
Hi reporter,

I didn't managed to reproduce this on my end on a system with 4GB of RAM. Can this be related to your hardware configuration? In the past there were some issues related to insufficient RAM memory on lower end systems that caused this kind of issues.

Also, can you please try to reproduce this on the latest release(42.0) and latest Nightly(46.0a1) and provide the results? When doing this, you can try to reproduce this bug with a new clean Firefox profile, maybe even in safe mode, as some of this issue can be caused by third party installed software(https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-and-diagnose-firefox-problems).

Thanks,
Paul.

Still an issue in 69.0.1.

Unknown actual steps to repro. Approx 7 tabs open, Facebook and some news stories I want to read plus my RSS feed reader. Happens without Facebook and feed reader open as well. Firefox becomes unresponsive so I automatically look at Task Manager...and it shows most Firefox processes are using a lot of memory - 1.4 G and 1.2 G for two, over 900K for about half a dozen others. OS is 64bit Windows 7 Pro, 8G RAM.

Former software tester at Microsoft here; tell me how I can help fix this (crash app to force a fail) and I'll be glad to help.
