User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:37.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/37.0 Build ID: 20150420225811 Steps to reproduce: wqy-zenhei 0.9.45 (font with cjk glyphs; only wqy-zenhei.ttc is used): http://sourceforge.net/projects/wqy/files/wqy-zenhei/0.9.45%20%28Fighting-state%20RC1%29/ fontconfig: https://www.archlinux.org/packages/extra/x86_64/fontconfig/ xorg-font-misc: https://www.archlinux.org/packages/extra/any/xorg-fonts-misc/ I have only conf from upstream fontconfig and dejavu fonts in /etc/fonts/conf.d; no per-user conf Actual results: wqy-zenhei will be used by firefox for Chinese or Korean text defined with the lang attribute, but not Japanese the following three bitmap fonts from xorg seem to have higher priority than wqy-zenhei for Japanese (but not Korean): 12x13ja.pcf.gz: "Fixed" "ja" 18x18ja.pcf.gz: "Fixed" "ja" 18x18ko.pcf.gz: "Fixed" "ko" Expected results: wqy-zenhei should have higher priority than these fonts
no font preferences is changed, all languages use default as shown

In the attached testcase, only the first two are Japanese characters, not the last two. U+8BD5 | http://www.fileformat.info/info/unicode/char/8BD5/index.htm
Well it's a testcase. It's about how firefox deal with font matching with different lang attribute. If you have similar environment you can just visit wikipedia sites of different language to see the same issue.
