Steps to reproduce:

I open https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PahEFn5aQSg. This is a livestream which is currently live, this is probably essential to reproducing the bug. The livestream has to be currently live.
After opening the page, the video plays fine with low CPU usage.
Then I either change the resolution of the video, or I seek in the video (seek=change time).


Actual results:

This results in extremely high CPU usage on all cores (I have an Intel Core i5-4590 processor, and all cores get taxed 50-80%). The video never actually changes resolution or goes to a different time, the center circle keeps circling. It also causes corruption on the site and all other tabs open, with certain screen elements becoming black. I have a screenshot of the corruption it causes, it's added to this report. Some of the corruption goes away after changing tabs. Even the interface of the browser becomes corrupt with some buttons disappearing.
I have tested this on a new profile. So there's no extensions installed, all standard settings, etc.


Expected results:

Obviously, after selecting a change in resolution the resolution should change. After seeking to a different time it should go to a different time.

The best time to reproduce this bug would probably be right now, with the livestream that is known to be problematic, and which is still live. If you try to reproduce the bug at a later stage you will probably have to find another livestream. And perhaps not all livestreams are affected, that would make things even harder.

I suppose it's the same bug that I got: it was reported before as "Bug 1159366". It happens on all YouTube live streams AFAIK, i tried on 10-12 streams and all give the same problem: memory leak, high CPU load, everything on Firefox window seems corrupted, I've to kill FF application via task manager.

I'm running FF 38.0 on a Windows 7 64bit PC.

You can go on https://www.youtube.com/live , pick up a live stream, click on the gear and change the resolution to reproduce the bug, even in safe mode.
