After updating to Firefox 38.0.1, I attempted to open a New Private Window, both via the Firefox menu and via the Ctrl+Shift+P shortcut key. Nothing happened. The New Private Window function no longer works from within a regular Firefox browser window. Launching Firefox in private mode via the command-line command "firefox.exe -private-window" does still appear to work.

Do you see any change if you start Firefox in safe mode? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode

My apologies. With all exstensions disabled, the New Private Window functions DOES appear to work from within Firefox. This apparent bug was first pointed out to me by a friend and I confirmed it. I will try to determine what extensions we have in common and then start testing that subset to identify the culprit. Again, I apologize for not doing this right off the bat.

The culprit appears to be Tab Mix Plus 0.4.1.7, with or without its "single window mode" option enabled. I'll see if I can't alert that extension's developer. Thanks for your patience. I will leave changing the status of this bug up to you, since I'm a newcomer.
