User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; WOW64; rv:38.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/38.0
Build ID: 20150508094354

Steps to reproduce:

- install Thunderbird 38.0b5
- basic account setup
- disable account prefs - server settings - advanced - show only subscribed folders
- enable account prefs - Copies & Folders - Save sent messages in current folder*
- select any user-created folder viewing it's messages, e.g. "MyFolder"
- compose and send a new message while within MyFolder

* translated from german to english

Actual results:

Sent message was saved in "Sent" folder

Expected results:

Sent messages should have been saved in MyFolder

Possible references:
The setting Save sent messages in current folder* does not exist.

It says: Place replies in the folder of the message being replied to (or in German: Antworten im Ordner der ursprünglichen Nachricht speichern)

It clearly says it only works for *replies*, not for new messages being composed "from the folder"...

Oops ... that's true. Sorry!
Well, you can of course request this as an enhancement, but I don't think that Thunderbird remembers which folder was selected when you start composing a message, so it can't save the message there (yet).

There's an AddOn for this ( It adds a bar though which I don't need. Users pre-sorting their messages (e.g. by using filters) will love this addon, but I know lot's of people that only use Inbox and Sent ... so I won't create an RFE.

It's a bit odd though, that there is "save replies to current" in TB but not newly composed messages.

Summary: FCC is saved in Sent despite of "save to current folder" being active (regression) → save FCC to current folder
