User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:37.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/37.0 Build ID: 20150415140819 Steps to reproduce: Running Windows 7 Professional Installed Thunderbird to a location (possibly drive) other than default. Mine is installed on E:\, where C:\ is my OS drive. Pinned Thunderbird to task bar Updated Thunderbird Actual results: After the update, the shortcut pinned to the taskbar was replaced with one pointing to Thunderbird's default install location (C:\Program Files (x86)\...). This shortcut fails because that's not where Thunderbird is actually installed. Expected results: The shortcut should not be altered, or if it must be (change in launch arguments, etc), use the actual install directory instead of the default one. I have to unpin and repin Thunderbird to my task bar after every update.

Summary: Taskbar link replacement → Updating Thunderbird breaks pinned app links on Windows taskbar, if TB is installed in non-default folder
As of version 65.0b1, this appears to no longer be an issue during updates.
Thanks for the update
