I am filing this on behalf of a friend.  The chrome part of his browser is sliced in half horizontally right through the middle of the URL bar.  The top half is shifted to the right.  In the blank whitespace where the chrome should be he says that the clicks will go through to the desktop and will select any icons that happen to be located there.  He said this still occurs in safe mode and only started happening a few days ago.

I forgot to add that he is using Firefox 38.0.1 on Windows 8.1.

So, this is on a 352.86 nvidia driver that just came out a few days ago.  D3D11, D2D1.1.  I'm assuming this happens all the time, and it wasn't just a one time thing after the update and before the computer was restarted?

Yes, this happens all the time now he said.  Restarting Firefox and the computer do not resolve it.  The strange thing is, he just told me that it only occurs when the browser is maximized.  If he puts it in windowed mode, it fixes itself, but will go right back to being broken if he maximizes again.

I know this is a lot to ask, but any chance to (temporarily) go back to the previous nvidia driver version (e.g., 350.12) and see if the problem is there just with the latest driver, but the same version of Firefox?

This seems to be a case of a bad driver install.  Uninstalling and reinstalling the 352.86 driver seems to have fixed this for him.
