expected results:
1) the new messages shows up immediately

actual results:
1) the new message shows up only after you reload the page



rationale:

I would like to see the current forum platform be capable of live chat-style support. The first step in this is have the messages appear 'live'. Thank you.

This probably should be coded on top of buddyup, not the forums, I don't know. (Someone pointed me to buddyup today and it has some nice features, but I do not know whether live chat and a thorough permissions system around the individual conversations is one of them.)

Leaving unconfirmed so that someone notices this report and triages it properly.

It's a good idea and I think is what the real time notifications attempt to accomplish.

In a normal forum, posts do not appear automatically, rather the page does get refreshed.

About the support question forums. In my view, there is a need in making the messages appear live to re-structure one of the forums into a live chat platform, as most of the required permissions and authentication codebase is already there. Alternatively this could be coded into a Yet Another Mozilla/Django Site (and I would be ok with this decision too, if you think that the forum design interferes with this idea).

Yes, to confirm the current behavior:
1. You add a post and click post
2. The page reloads automatically and then the post appears. 

I will add this as a feature request.
