User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.0; rv:25.2) Gecko/20150122 Firefox/31.9 PaleMoon/25.2.1 Build ID: 20150122013745 Steps to reproduce: Select several messages in an IMAP folder. Delete it (move to trash IMAP folder). Actual results: Messages are reloaded even if downloaded before and present in cache. Expected results: Messages should simply be moved to trash folder.
Version 24 is quite old. Does this reproduce wiht current version 31? Or beta 38 from http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/channel/ ?

Summary: Messages moved to trash are reloaded → Messages moved to imap Trash are reloaded

The behaviour is the same with version 31. The cause behind seems to be a bit slow mailbox connection. Steps to reproduce: I have ~100 messages in my inbox and 7 in the trash (both imap folders of the same mailbox). I select 95 messages (quickfilter, select all) and press delete. All messages disappear and I get "moving messages to trash" and two blue bars, one stays at half, the other is moving. After quite exactly a minute, a popup appears with "cannot to connect to mailbox, connection was refused", also previously seen a time-out condition. If I then select the inbox folder, all messages are reloaded (because the delete failed, I guess) and I have now beside the messages in the inbox 102 messages in the trash folder. -- It helps to delete the mails in chunks. I don't understand why the delete operation takes so long. If all messages are removed in one rush (preferred), there is no reason it lasts so long, if the messages are removed one by one (it seems to be the case), there is no reason to reload them all. Also, the messages are all in the local cache and there is no reason to load it again from the mailbox.

Thanks. There is at least one imap bug fixed that might help in version 38. Install from Help | About | Check Do you have good results with 38?
