User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; WOW64; rv:38.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/38.0 Build ID: 20150521175336 Steps to reproduce: When multiple profiles are launched in OS X, they get seperate dock icons. To match this behavior on windows please enable the pref of taskbar.grouping.useprofile to be true as default. Otherwise multiple profiles get lumped together into one icon on the taskbar. An added benefit of this is that it improves performance in an addon Im making to support multiple profiles. Currently it works fine it's just that the JumpList does not get built, as I am setting on runtime the HashString(profileDir->GetNativePath(path)) which in js is HashString(OS.Constants.Path.profileDir) and the jumplist relies on the initial startup group id. This startup group id is different from the one set on runtime using var win = Services.wm.getMostRecentWindow(null); Cc["@mozilla.org/windows-taskbar;1"].getService(Ci.nsIWinTaskbar).setGroupIdForWindow(win, 'Contoso.Scratch') As this needs to be done for every newly opened iwndow. It is not possible to set this default group id during runtime, MSDN WinAPI docs state that it has to happen during startup.

Default profile should use the default System.UserModelApp.ID while non-default profiles use this pref at true. If a profile is changed away from default during run time, ID should be change respectively (new default gets change to default AppUserModelID, and the one that was default but is no longer default should use the custom AppUserModelID). But if pref is false at start, i am manually moving things around. People enjoy this behavior. The only downside of doing it from addon is that initiall, during run of first addon install, while the pref is disabled, the AppUserModelID's changing during run time is a bit slow as its done from JS, so users can sometimes see if they pay attention things in their taskbar moving around. Doing it native would prevent this lag. Minor but would be nice to be perfect. The downside is jump lists are associated with AppUserModelID. So they will mix up. Maybe we should make all jump lists be associated with the custom UserModelAppID that is used when this pref is true.
