From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:0.9.7) Gecko/20011221 BuildID: 2001122106 Flash included in a page in 0.9.7 gives strange error. All flash-enabled sites including Macromedia that I've been to seems to give the error, and the flash isn't displayed. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Enter a url to a page with flash on it into the location bar 2. Press enter key 3. Error is displayed Actual Results: Error message displayed. Expected Results: Displayed the flash and not thrown an error. Varion of flash used is: Shockwave Flash 5.0 r41 Other plugins installed are QuickTime Plug-in 5.0.2 (can't qt handle flash too?), Mozilla ActiveX control and plugin module (Since it was an ActiveX error, might this be the source?), Java 1.3.1, Shockwave 8.5.

Strange ! Works fine for me. I do not see any activeX error message. Am using 20011226 trunk winNT. David, what's specific about your machine that you see this error? Can you type "about:plugins" and see what version of flash is installed|where it is installed ? Also, can you state a url where u see this error. Maybe it is specific to the page that you are trying to load??? Your help is appreciated. Thanks!!

ah, you're using the 'mozilla ActiveX control', that's most likely the source to the problem. all other plugins look fine, since I'm using the same versions. ... and nope (as far as i'm aware), qt doesn't handle flash. not sure whether 'component: activeX Wrapper' Adam Lock (adamlock@netscape.com) is responsible for activeX plugin :: http://www.iol.ie/~locka/mozilla/mozilla.htm

Attached a copy of my about:plugins page so that you can see what versions are used. As for where the error occurs, it appears in <http://www.xl5design.com/>, <http://www.macromedia.com/software/flash/>, <http://www.rustboy.com/rustweb.htm>, <http://avault.com/> and many more. In fact it seems like ALL flash sites are affected. And, come to think of it, the problem most likely lies in my use of the ActiveX plugin. But why the hell does it think of looking for an all-zero classid?

if you delete/move the npmozax.dll (activex) plugin, so that mozilla doesn't load it, everything should work fine. according to asa: "not a bug in mozilla". ... and should be marked as a dup of bug 87646. however, not sure if this should be under component: Embedding: APIs, so cc'ing: adamlock@netscape.com, for his voice on this.
