using 12/27 trunk build on windows
1) launch netscape
2) launch composer
3) click on any object to bring up the dialog
notice at the bottom near the OK/Cancel button the dialog
looks cut off...
this is a regression.

This is strange. When looking at the "View Bugs Already Reported Today" link, or
a manual query with this bug in it, the summary shows up as: "Unknown socket
type. Loading aborted". But in this bug I see the summary as "dialogs are cut
off at bottom".
The wrong summary seems to be coming from bug 117113, that was opened at exactly
the same time.
Changing summary from dialogs->Dialogs, hopefully this will correct the summary.
Summary: dialogs are cut off at bottom → Dialogs are cut off at bottom

The only dialogs I see this in today is the Advanced Edit dialog as described
here, and when using the "Link Properties" dialog: In a new Composer window,
simply click on the "Link" toolbar button
Component: Editor: Composer → Themes
Summary: Dialogs are cut off at bottom → some dialogs are cut off at bottom

Details from bug 117711 to shoe Advanced Edit problem:
1. Launch netscape.
2. Open composer.
3. Click on "table" toolbar.
4. Click on "Advanced Edit...". The "Advanced property dialog" is pop up.

This is horrible! I can't dismiss dialogs without the buttons! Please fix this
ASAP!

set EDITORBASE since this is very basic and serious regression.

Are any dialogs cut off so much that you can't get to the buttons? The ones I
saw had the buttons partly cut off, but still usable, so it was just a cosmetic
flaw rather than a usability problem.
Comment 13•23 years ago

Yes, the buttons do not appear at all. With today's blocker bug (focus
problem?) pressing return/escape don't dismiss dialog either so this is really
bad (imo).
Summary: some dialogs are cut off at bottom → some dialogs are cut off at bottom--no buttons appear

I started seeing this bug (although in a more general form: several dialogs are
cut off at the bottom...but not so much that the entire buttons are gone) after
a big Themes landing some weeks ago. I'm afraid I cannot remember the exact date
of the landing or who was responsible for it.

Now that I look at bonsai I think it was after hewitt's landing on 12/19/2001.
I'll try a build before and after that to verify.

Mozilla 0.9.7 from 2001-12-21-08 does NOT show this bug and that build did not
have hewitt's checkin included since mozilla0.9.7 had branched then (and this
checkin didn't land on branch).
A build from 2001-12-26-08 DOES show this bug. Unfortunately there aren't any
nightlies that I can test just before hewitt's landing, but I'm pretty sure that
that was what caused this bug. CC:ing him.

this bug is _not_ present with this am's commercial builds:
windows 2002-01-16-06-trunk
linux 2002-01-16-06-trunk
mac 2002-01-16-03-trunk (though mac insert image dialogue is now hosed in other
ways...will log a bug on it)

I still see cut off buttons in Properties of bookmarks with 2002-01-16-08 on
Linux, using a fresh profile. The steps to reproduce are:
1) Create a new profile.
2) Go to Bookmarks->Manage Bookmarks
3) Right-click on a bookmark item and select Properties
Result: The OK and Cancel buttons are cut off just as show in attachment 65094 [details].
This is what someone reported as bug 119619, which was duped against this one.
Tracy Walker, did you try the above steps?

this bug ist "still" present in today's 1/16 trunk builds..
Tracy, try the H. Line dialog and the Link dialog...you will see
that the OK and Cancel buttons are cut off at the bottom. compare
with other composer dialogs.

I have been checking image insert dialogs (they look good now). But , yes, those
other dialogs still are cut off. What fixed the insert image dialog??

With a cvs build from 2002-01-19-22 on Linux the OK and Cancel buttons in
bookmark Properties are no longer cut off. Neither in Modern nor in Classic. I
have no clue what fixed that.

What about creating a list with all impacted dialogs? Or do you think it's a
"general" problem, e.g. fixing this bug on one position will fix it it several
impacted screens? I mean, this problem seems to appear on many screens - not
only on 2 or 3 ...
Comment 34•23 years ago

This is part of the list I pasted into another (duplicate?) bug:
Bookmark properties
Composer's hrule properties
Composer's insert table dialog
Composer's named anchor dialog
Composer's page colors and background dialog
Composer's page title and properties
Composer's Insert Characters and Symbols
Composer's Insert HTML dialog
Composer's List properties
Composer's Create Table from Selection dialog
Addressbook's New List dialog
Addressbook's Properties dialog
Bookmarks' choose folder dialog
Cookie Manager
Image Manager
Password Manager
Form Manager > Managed Sites
Search Messages dialog
Find (in Mail/Browser/Composer)
Open Web Location (in Browser/Composer)
Composer's color picker dialog
note: I haven't tried every dialog but my gut feeling is that the list of
"working" dialogs is shorter than the list of broken dialogs.

My checkin last friday did indeed fix this - it just regressed mac so you
couldn't tell right away. When I land the patch in 121278 you will see that it
is fixed.
