better communication is required to get the ball rolling. current bug is: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1065729 but if a google group is setup this should get devs talking.

I'm not sure creating a group is the right thing. I wouldn't propose a group unless there's a commitment to implement; and then, I'd be asking why this feature is so big as to need its own discussion forum, as opposed to using bugs or firefox-dev.

I'd say the next stage for you is getting the Firefox module owner to sign off on the idea of supporting this.
