(Whiteboard: [XUL dirviewer])

2001122719

Go to ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/nightly/latest-trunk/ and see no
evidence any URL is a link. Right click on any filename, and no menu pops up.
Cannot therefore copy the URL into WGET to download, as nothing on page is
selectable for cut & paste.

I belive this started when FTP page listings were chromed a couple of weeks or
so ago.
Confirming bug on Windows - not OS/2 specific

Does this happen all the time, or only sometimes?

XUL is now disabled by default; setting milestone/keywords to match
Keywords: nsbeta1, regression
Whiteboard: [XUL dirviewer]
Target Milestone: --- → mozilla1.1
I think this is fixed in the latest nightly. Reporter?
Was fixed several days ago when FTP listings were dechromed - last Sunday?
It's also working in Windows 98 now.

Resolving as worksforme on the basis of previous comment.

I filed this bug when XUL for FTP listings was the default. XUL is not now the
default, so I don't know how to test under the conditions under which this bug
was filed. Reopening until confirmed working using XUL.

I think this is controlled by Prefs | Debug | Networking

"Enable html directory listing"
2002031916 OS/2

Prefs | Debug | Networking is a bizarre place for something like this.
Nevertheless, HTML is the default, and the right click menu works when it is
set. There is no right click menu when XUL is selected. Added XUL to summary.
Summary: No Right Click Menu for FTP Links → No Right Click Menu for XUL FTP Links
Is there a way at all to save a file with the XUL ftp-listing?
If you save the listing itsself, you will get an equivalnet html page for ftp
and gopher. (This is a massive hack)

File isn't hooked up to that yet, though.
xul dirviewer bugs -> 1.2. I have no time..
Target Milestone: mozilla1.1alpha → mozilla1.2alpha

I see this happening in file XUL/tree as well... Mac OS X, N7.0PR1 (effectively
RC2).

Just wanted to ping and inform that this is still unchanged in Mozilla 1.3a.

From a user standpoint it is a little odd when there are no real ways to
interact with the FTP directory listings except expand/collapse and double click.

Options in my opinion would be:

For items representing directories:

- Open Directory in New Window
- Open Directory in New Tab
- Bookmark this Directory
- Copy Directory Location
- Properties

For items representing files:

- Save File...
- Copy File location
- Bookmark this File
- Copy File Location
- Properties

Don't know how to treat symlinks... would be best to treat them as what they
link to, but I'm not sure if that information is available.

shouldn't this be in xp-apps/trees?
