nothing on page is selectable for cut & paste.
I belive this started when FTP page listings were chromed a couple of weeks or

This bug has nothing to do with a right click menu, not a dupe of bug 103827.

You're meant to click on it once, then use the context menu. that doesn't work
because of bug 103827, though. You can't select part of a link, which is Yet
Another reason why the html mode is preferred.
The XUL viewer isn't used by default though - turning it on was an accidental
checkin dougt made.

Bug 103827 is about a right click menu function not working as designed.
This bug is distinguishable in that its focus is on the fact that the mouse
cannot select any page content to copy to clipboard. On any normal HTML page,
any or all of the page can be selected and copied to the clipboard, such as when
the need to save the page content as a text file (because bug 70045 hasn't been
fixed) arises. This bug is not a dupe of bug 103827.

This is xul only. removing nsbeta1, since the xul dirviewer was only enabled by
accident.
Marking dependancy, because the bugs are related, and a fix for one could
probably trivally fix the other.
->moz1.1, since its xul only

This behavior also applies on some http pages - e.g.
http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=124205 and this page. Right now if I
try to select any previous submissions on this bug to copy and paste for quoting
into the additional comments form window, nothing happens when swiping the mouse
pointer over the desired text.

I'm not sure what you mean by previous submissions, but that is definately not
this bug. this bug only affects directiory listings using the tree-style view

previous submissions=additional comments previous to current additional comment
What is a tree style view? I made no mention of any such thing when I submitted
this bug originally December 28th.
A web page containing text controlled via preferences, whether an FTP listing or
anything else, should not be ignoring the swipe of the mouse pointer. Standard
text fonts, as opposed to chrome fonts or graphics, should always be available
to copy to the clipboard, and this is what this bug is really about.

don't argue w/ bbaetz on this, he's the dir-master :)
If you got little triangles for directories, you are in XUL/tree/dir view, (we
have no official name).
If you see files presented as links (underlined), then that is HTML view. At the
time of your submission, I think tree/dir was the default.
If you are broken in HTML view as of 1.0, please create a new bug, b/c this bug
is officially hijacked.
