The default wallpaper for Spark contains drastic contrast between the smooth brown background gradient and the bright white smoke clouds at the bottom. This causes the Homescreen app icon labels to be harder to discern from the background. Also, in the initial first Homescreen the user is greeted with (as seen in this attachment), the Settings icon in the bottom-left seems to blend in with the white clouds as well causing it to not stand out as an icon.

I've also noticed that the default icon layout for Spark is 3-columns which causes the center column of icons to completely obscure the rocket graphic. In a 4-column layout, this is not an issue, but perhaps the rocket could be "taking off" at an angle?

This is another screenshot showing how scrolling to reveal the next row of icons at the bottom of the screen can cause their labels to be difficult to read (Customizer, Hackerplace and Studio).
Flagging Hung and Peter for NI? to take a look when they have time.

Thanks for the feedback Justin.

With regards to the contrast ratio for the app labels, we took a look at it on device and believe with the drop shadow and transparent black overlay, they are legible even on a bright background.

IMO changing the wallpaper would only be a band aid fix. Perhaps we could try increasing the opacity of the black overlay to enhance legibility? Going this route will prevent future bugs stemming from the same cause.

As for the positioning of the rocket, trust me, we tried everything under the sun but came to the conclusion that we should optimize it for the lock screen instead. Due to the condensed nature of the app grid, regardless of what the user decides to use, it will be obscured. Its pretty much the nature of the beast and the only way around this is to have the ability to set separate images for both the lock/home screens (IE iOS).
