netscape 4.7 hangs too, IE 5.0 bombs, IE 5.5sp2 survives

I can't reproduce this on Linux 20011228 ( I don't have an audio/x-wav plugin in
Mozilla, '<embed src=contact.wav volume=50 height=0 width=0 align=top
loop=true>' ; Could this embed be related with the hang?)

After installing IE 5.5sp2 on the pc where I got the mozilla hang both netscape
4.7 and mozilla are working.

Probably the issue belongs to the os and the browser update has silently updated
something related.

I get the same type of result with nytimes.com & interactive.wsj.com. It starts
to work after clearing cache & or opening the browser. I'm using a pc, w98se &
M2001122803
