User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux i686; rv:41.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/41.0 Build ID: 20150513191204 Steps to reproduce: The AwesomeBar used to be awesome. It was an embodiment of my Internet life. I sometimes wouldn't visit a site for months and then I'd type it into the AwesomeBar and it'd be there. Sometimes it was just a search and if I could remember the term I could pull it up. Nowadays I seem to be stuck with a couple weeks worth of results max. The AwesomeBar is a key feature of Firefox. If it's not doing its job properly, then it's a problem.

please try checking for database integrity with this add-on https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/places-maintenance/ Could you please also check creation date of your places.sqlite file or if you have a places.sqlite-corrupt file in your profile folder? I wonder if it has been replaced due to corruption...
No places.sqlite-corrupt, only places.sqlite-shm and places.sqlite-wal. I done the deep check anyway and I see it done a few things in regards to maintenance. Hopefully it spreads to all devices via Sync and fixes the issues.
is this still an issue?
It is indeed reproduced it on Fennec today.
this bug is only about Firefox Desktop, Firefox for Android is a separate product in Bugzilla...
I would've thought they'd all be linked in regards to the way places is mishandling something or another due to the face I use Firefox Sync. In regards to the Fennec report, I visited a site regularly for months. Suddenly I needed it on Fennec after a two month absence from the site and it never turned up in my AwesomeScreen. Please understand that thinking of sites that I knew I visited and haven't visited in a while isn't the easiest of task. That said, I just tested my bookmarks. I typed in the keyword and only two out of around ten of those surfaced in the AwesomeBar.
Fennec is not using Places nor any of the Firefox desktop location bar code. The only thing in common is Sync. Piling up issues between Sync, Firefox and Fennec in a single bug will make it a no-go for anyone. It's completely unclear to me what is the issue here now, cause I don't know if you have things disappearing from the awesome bar, or from Fennec location bar, or Sync not properly synchronizing history across the 2. I don't know how fennec handles history expiration, so this bug report won't bring anything useful there. this bug was about the awesomebar in Firefox Desktop showing only 2 weeks of history, I'd like to understand if that's still the case.
I would say that as the person that filed and continues to experience the bug, I'm in the better position to state what this bug was about. All of my devices have always been connected to my sync account. If it's something that you're unwilling to investigate given that extra information, then so be it, but please don't admonish me for actually trying to offer up helpful information.
