From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i586; en-US; rv:0.9.7) Gecko/20011221 BuildID: 2001122108 Usually happens when I visit a page with controls, and attempt to start using the controls before the page has completed loading. The text of the webpage starts getting drawn all over the screen and all windows/wodgets lose their capability to properly refresh. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1.Start mozilla. 2.Go to www.kbb.com or www.cycletrader.com and try to use controls before page has entirely loaded. Actual Results: Text from screen widgets (not just mozilla) start getting drawn all over screen. Text in windows, backgrounds fail to refresh properly, althrough they are updating. Expected Results: Drawn text in proper locations, other widgets and windows should refresh/update properly. This is a RedHat 7.2 box with all errata done via "up2date". When this happens, must control/alt/bsp to get back to console. On every occasion, the user processes "oafd" and "gconfd" remain in the process table even after logging out and back in. They must be killed or the box rebooted to get rid of them. Even rebooting the machine will often start the wm in this unusable state, without launching mozilla. Removing the home directories ".gconfd" and ".gconf" always gets rid of the problem, at least temporarily.

I can't repro this one, at least not on W2K using the trunk build from 20020114. Reporter, can you give some explicit steps that you can repro -- maybe I can repro it if I follow the exact steps. I will also try this out on a linux system

Hmm. I'm not able to reproduce based on the information provided. Tested with Redhat 6.2 using the Jan 17 th build. Reporter, could you try with a newer nightly build ?

Not much I can do or add. It happens on my RedHat 7.2 Linux box about once every two to three days, and only started happening with Mozilla 0.9.7, although it could have been one of the RedHat 'up2date' updates. Will try the nightly build and post results after a few days.

I've had the issue happen twice without mozilla open (just using nautilus) so this looks like a problem with the platform, not mozilla. Regards, and keep up the great work.
