Android and iOS both allow users to quickly turn on the camera LED as a flashlight. This is even available from the lock screen. As far as I can tell, I can't use my Aries as a torch at all, much less easily from the lock screen or anywhere else.
This isn't a feature in the OS as of yet. There's apps you can download such as LED flashlight. Pinging ux.

It also turns out that on aries, the LED is being held as busy by another process. So there's 2 bugs here. one for product/ux and one on device.

There was some work on exposing lights as an API to allow this .... bug 1065404
Depends on: LED-API
Removing NI as it's already been tagged with feature. It will come back on our radar when the feature is picked up for a release. Thanks for pinging the UX team!

This works already as the add-on Quick Settings Enhancement provides this feature
"torch" from the Marketplace allows for use of the LED as a flashlight and seems to work just fine, for me at least.
