Details

In the past (up to 0.9.5, at least), pre-built binary RPMs for Red Hat Linux 6.x and compatible systems were available with each release on the FTP site. For 0.9.7, the RPMs are labeled as for RHL 7.x: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/releases/mozilla0.9.7/Red_Hat_7x_RPMS/ According to the release notes, "The Red Hat RPM builds are created to work with the default Red Hat 6.x and Red Hat 7.x installations." Either the release notes are wrong, or the directory is incorrectly named. (I have not tried those RPMs on my RHL 6.2 system yet.) If the released RPMs *are* for RHL 7.x only, I would like to request that RPMs be built for RHL 6.x systems again. Binaries for RHL 6.x should work on RHL 7.x systems, but the reverse is not true. Other distributions tell a similar tale. Since I would assume releases are designed to work on as many systems as possible, it makes more sense to build RPMs for 6.x than 7.x. If RPMs for RHL 6.x are simply not going to happen, the Release Notes should be corrected to (1) indicate RPMs are for RHL 7.x and compatible systems only, and (2) note the change in the "What's New" section.
rpms are contributed, reassigning to contributor.
