The new signed packages model will need a new blocklisting mechanism. We may be able to build this on updates as with the previous version but I'm not sure.
Not that if we decide to do bug 1178452, we will definitely need an independent blocking mechanism, since updates won't come form the marketplace.

Let's please not build this based on what we do currently, which is an ugly hack and was only meant to be an interim solution. Unfortunately the real solution never came to be. Comment #2 seems like we are moving away from this which is great.
