Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:41.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/41.0
Build ID: 20150703004018

Steps to reproduce:

Opened firefox 41

Actual results:

When I first opened firefox after the update, everything that used bitmap fonts reverted to the default sans serif font. Bitmap fonts are also no longer available as an option in Preferences -> Content -> Font selector

My system sees the fonts, both through X and fontconfig, and I can use them everywhere except firefox.

Expected results:

The fonts should have loaded.
This is an expected effect of the Linux font-list changes (see bug 1056479 comment 13). We need to determine whether this is acceptable, or should be addressed somehow. If you think we should continue supporting bitmap fonts, please explain why this is important.

For now the workaround would be to use the old Linux font backend. In about:config, set 'gfx.font_rendering.fontconfig.fontlist.enabled' to false.

Sounds like this is a won'tfix for the time being. Please re-open if I'm wrong.
