The "Google" search sidebar does not work for any country-specfic google pages like http://www.google.de/ or http://www.google.co.jp/ When I start a query with www.google.com the sidebar gets filled with the search results, but when I do the same query with www.google.de nothing happens in the sidebar ... ;-(
Is this the mozilla search sidebar you mean? Or the google sidebar that you can install off the google site?
The google sherlock that mozilla (and netscape6) ship with contain query URLs to google.com. Thus, if a query contains any other domain the match fails. What you are looking for is a localized google sherlock file. Essentially, the sherlock plugin for google.de would be different than the sherlock plugin for google.com. I'm not sure if such a sherlock plugin (for google.de or google.co.jp) exists. Maybe Tao can help you on that front.

CC l10n engineer - yxia.
Right, in the google sherlock file "SBWeb_02.src", the URL is: action="http://info.netscape.com/fwd/lksidus_gg/http://www.google.com/search" Thus, when you search on google.com, the sidebar will get filled, but if you search on google.de or google.co.jp, nothing happens on the sidebar. This is same with other search engines. For example, if you don't have German Netscape search engine installed, and if you search on netscape.de, nothing happens on the sidebar either. We only have localized Netscape Search, but not the others. For testing, you can modify the URL in the sherlock file, to google.de for example, then you will see the sidebar changes when you searh on google.de.
CCing netcenter people, cause we have google and goto search engine included for DE, but in English. We may need to consider to localize those sherlock files.

I suggest to add (at least) localisations for japanese (*.co.jp), german (*.de) and french (*.fr). Or we ask the Google people to enlight us which locales they support and which domain names are connected with that ...
