1182137 - Moderator permissions missing for the New Contributors ("Buddies") forum

Description

[Mark Schmidt :marksc]

Specifically, Mark Schmidt (username: marksc) is an admin on all the forums except plugin check discussion. Not sure why/how this is the case. Mark does need to be able to admin this forum so he can move and sticky posts, etc.

Does anyone have any permission in that forum apart from super admins (currently Madalina IIRC)? 

Can you please ask Madalina to give you those permissions, if you don't have them already? If you have them and it still doesn't work, we can investigate this as a bug.

Topal, user marksc is listed under the Administrators and Forums Moderatos groups so he should have access to all forums. However it looks like Rachel (guigs) cannot do admin tasks either. Maybe something went wrong when the forum was created?

I can edit and move things no problem.

Madasan said on October 16, 2015 Ok I think we figured it out, some of the permissions are not automatically added when new forums are created so we need to do that manually. I'll start adding the permissions and update this thread when it is done.

If this bug can't be fixed then maybe those forums and other underused contributor forums should be archived/removed, if they're not really needed. Related discussion, posted today: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/forums/contributors/713949

Bug 1619691 removed all of the problem forums from the https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/forums/ list, except for the New Contributors https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/forums/buddies forum.
That forum is still missing moderator permissions unless you're in the https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/groups/buddies-mods group.

This is still an issue. It gets spammed in either as threads or replies on occasion and then takes a while to be dealt with as only a limited number of people can moderate that section.

Bug 1779724 enabled moderator permissions for the New Contributors ("Buddies") forum so this bug can be closed.
