User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.10; rv:41.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/41.0 Build ID: 20150706162027 Steps to reproduce: This happens randomly, you might get to reproduce it somehow, I usually drag tabs cross-window, that might help 1. Drag a tab (preferrably from another window) 2. Drop it Actual results: The drag indicator doesn't go away until I start dragging again Expected results: The drag indicator should go away --- I found an old bug with the same context, but it's abandoned.

¡Hola Mahdi! Greetings from The LATAM QA meetup. We've tested your bug on Nightly (42.0) and Developer Edition (41.0) and we're unable to reproduce this bug as described in https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1182726#c0 Could you please update your version and let us know if this still happens? If it does, could you please retry with add-ons disabled? ¡Gracias!

Hi, I just reproduced it again, and the steps I followed: I disabled and enabled my add-ons one by one, the Extension Auto-installer [0] causes my browser to open links coming from external applications (Mail app for example) to be opened in a "New Window" instead of a tab, I think it's a problem with links initiating a new window. So, after installing the Add-on or somehow making your browser open external links in new windows, Open two sites in your main window, then drag the new window's single tab between the main windows' tabs. Phew, too much work I know :D. That's how I reproduce it, works most of time, and I'm using one of the latest builds of 41.0, updated a week ago. ¡Hola Mahdi! Are you saying this bug does not happen with a clean install of Firefox?
Flags: needinfo?(alex_mayorga) → needinfo?(mdibaiee)
I'm not sure, as I said, it's either 1. A problem with initianing new windows with a URL and dragging that tab 2. A problem with the "Extension Auto-installer" add-on I'm not able to use firefox cli on my Mac, so I couldn't test the first case.

I've never noticed that issue despite using OS X 10.10 but that hardly means anything - I only have Extension Auto-Installer installed in my test profile and I rarely drag tabs. Using Firefox 42.0a1 nightly (2015-08-04) I was able to reproduce that issue once, and at that point almost all my extensions including Extension Auto-Installer were disabled (Nightly switched on hard signing requirements now, initially I didn't notice that when testing). Strangely, no error message in Browser Console. Despite numerous attempts, I was only able to reproduce once again after that, and I have no idea how this can be reproduced reliably. Code-wise, Extension Auto-Installer is very simple, it does exactly two things. It runs an HTTP server on some port (8888 by default) and it registers the install-shortener: URL scheme. Neither seems to be even remotely related to tab dragging functionality. It does *not* affect how external URLs are treated - this is done by the "Open new windows in a new tab instead" Firefox setting. My suspicion is that this is some race condition which isn't really related to Extension Auto-Installer (or other extensions for that matter).

Yeah, it seems to be completely random, at least I couldn't find a way to reproduce it, it just happens sometimes. I tried to record an screen to show you how to reproduce it, but I couldn't as it wouldn't happen always, tried a few times, no success. But it happens out of coincidence.
¡Hola Mahdi, Ailbert! Do Beta, Developer or Nightly improve things on this bug? Confirming as there's at leas one duplicate at https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1209867 ¡Gracias! Alex
