Foxy Proxy addons (basic and standard) cause an immediate crash in Thunderbird when loaded in Thunderbird 38 versions. These need to be blocked.

We tried the compatibility override approach, but bug 1183733 appeared that re-enabled foxy proxy on a second update of Thunderbird. Tests show that using a blocklist succeeds, that is after the second update foxy proxy stays disabled, and the crash does not occur.

I'll post suggested XML file additions that are desired.

Changes needed for Thunderbird. Note that SeaMonkey may need the same block, starting with Seamonkey version 2.35

Unfortunately users updating to Thunderbird 38.1.0 have gotten burned by Bug 1183733 - Second app update after a compatibility override re-enables an incompatible addon

Wayne, in my tests the block (this bug) worked, but the compatibility override (which would be affected by bug 1183733) did not. They are two separate paths. We need to figure out why we are STILL seeing crashes even with this block in place. May be related to bug 1183733 but it us not the same issue exactly.
Summary: Block foxy proxy variant is Thunderbird 38a2 and greater → Block foxy proxy variant in Thunderbird 38a2 and greater
