Reported on the Mac newsgroup, by a user using NS 6.2.1. If you attach a file to a mail message, and the filename contains a '/' character (which is common for dates), then the message fails to send with an error relating to the attachment. (Note: we should also test with normal filesnames, but a '/' somewhere in the folder path of the attachment).

accepting I did not try under MacOS 9 but on MacOX X, I was able to send the message but the file name in the mime header wasn't correct. In fact it was the full path of the attached file. That's not good at all and could be potentially a security problem.

Duplicated under OS9 - RC1. Both as part of filename and path statement. Error received is also misleading- "Sending of Message Failed. Verify your Mail Account and newsgroup settings are correct and try again."

This bug is still present in Mozilla 1.2 on Mac OS9. I notice this has been logged as relating to a Netscape release and see on the Bugzilla front page the Netscape bugs will be ignored. Is this being ignored? Does another bug report need to be raised?

This bug is targeted at a Mac classic platform/OS, which is no longer supported by mozilla.org. Please re-target it to another platform/OS if this bug applies there as well or resolve this bug. I will resolve this bug as WONTFIX in four weeks if no action has been taken. To filter this and similar messages out, please filter for "mac_cla_reorg".
