STR 1. Open a website (like mozilla.org) thanks to the rocketbar 2. Go to homescreen. 3. On the rocketbar, go to mozilla.org again. Expected results Like on Firefox Desktop, I should be brought to the webpage I just opened. Actual results A new window is open. If you go to the task switcher, you're able to see the 2 identical pages open. Having this feature would enable users to save money and bring Firefox OS closer to our biggest product.

Francis, what's your take on this?

If the user enters a URL that's already open, I agree that the user should switch to that open window and not open a new window.

This should already happen for these cases: 1.- Opening a webpage with the same domain of a pinned site. 2.- Opening the same exact url that is already open I think what's happening here is that the url changes when accessing a domain (google.com redirects to www.google.com, for example), and then when typing the same domain in the rocketbar doesn't find that URL. May be we can try to be more clever here, but is not an easy topic. That said, I think there is a bug currently that makes this not work properly all the time at the moment. Johan, could you please confirm if entering the same exact path (the one that remains in the page after loading) twice reopens the previous window? Thanks!

(In reply to Alberto Pastor [:albertopq] from comment #4) > This should already happen for these cases: > > 1.- Opening a webpage with the same domain of a pinned site. > 2.- Opening the same exact url that is already open #2 works correctly. If I enter the exact URL, the old window is brought back. Changing the bug title. I couldn't get #1 working. Here's what I tried: * type "www.mozilla.org" => You get redirected to https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/ * tap home button and rocket bar again => see "www.mozilla.org" * on the keyboard, tap enter => KO, a new window is open. > that the url changes when accessing a domain (google.com redirects to www.google.com, for example) I confirm. In my example, mozilla.org redirects to www.mozilla.org, which redirects to https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/. Summary: [Feature request] Switch to an already open webpage → [Feature request] Switch to an already open webpage, when you don't type the full URL
Johan, with #1 I meant, opening the same domain after *pinning* the site (using pinning the web), so the STR you added won't work. I'm not sure we can easily guess that www.mozilla.org and https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/ is the same window. Top level domains, root paths, etc... are options that work in some cases but break others. Anyway, I think is a reasonable feature request and we should try to find a way to do it.
