If I start typing a name, Mozilla uses me LDAP server to suggest people in
matching the LDAP server. The people are shown with a different icon in the
dropdown than people in the addressbook. But when I hit enter to select that
person the icon switches back to the "normal" icon. Why not show the LDAP people
icon so that I can see that this person came fra an external source.

Note that for some installations (TB here) autocomplete doesn't lookup LDAP at all. I haven't been able to determine why; this is a different bug, however.

Those icons were available in old versions.  Using current version of Thunderbird (3.0.4), no icon is displayed in front of contacts.  So this bug no longer makes any sense.

Reporter, do you agree to close the bug?

Go to Tools menu > Options > Composition > Addressing > enable Directory Server and choose your server.

Since the reporter didn't reply, this bug will be closed as it no longer makes any sense in current versions.
