When you right click on an image to save it on your hard disk, mozilla shows a
progress bar and dowload the image again before saving. This is particulary
annoying on sites with low bandwidth when you have to wait the re-downloading of
an image that is under your eyes.
Dupe of 40867, please reopen if you disagree

I am not sure that this bug is a duplicate of 40867.
40867 is about saving page. I'm talking here about saving image.
I dont see many reason to reload an image when you want to save it.
Explorer doesn't reload the image, and i think that's the good way.
When i surf on slow web sites with larges images, i copy and paste the link of
th epage in explorer and i close mozilla :-(. And i think i'm not the only one
to do so.
Webmasters must hate mozilla surfers because they put double duty on their
(already slow!) servers by downloading each picture twice !
If too many people are against this point of view, perhaps could it be possible
to add an entry in the context menu like "save image in cache" or something like
that.

I think this is legitimately a different issue from the other bug. However, I
think this bug is dependent on that bug, so I'm marking it such. Take the
following post from the end of that bug (I added what's in brackets):

"It should *never* be possible to have a page in a window and not be able to view
source, or send or save the page, [or save an image,] and get any result other
than the exact content of the window that is on your screen."

I think the above shows the relation.

Why is this marked as a duplicate when this bug report is about saving images, and the other is about saving HTML files and CGIs?

There is no mention in the description of the other bug anything about images:

"Bug 115174 - Save Page As Web Page, HTML Only will attempt to resubmit cgi to save instead of using cached or displayed content"

Either this should be reopened, or the other bug should be expanded to include saving of other content, including statically loaded (non-CGI) images.
