This is known issue and a wont fix for the first releases. We need further to figure out how to make the contact sync possible without causing security risks. And it will require gecko and maybe gaia changes. In order not to delay the ZTE Open C2 release, this will remain as a known issue and wont fix. Thanks, Didem

Hi all I've checked with the last versions ACL 0.1.39 and Whatsapp 2.12.252-omrel1.0.13 (1563844) and still happening. I've tried both ways: adding a contact on FFOS contact app and see if it appears on Whatsapp. Fail. Viceversa. Fail As you may imagine this is a big issue. Any updates on it?

The implementation of this is a bit complicated so we have been coordinating with Mozilla. This issue is our highest priority and we are looking to have a release with this feature in 2 weeks

Hi Pete, Thanks, please take into account the freeze date that we agreed on 09/14. We really need to have this solved by that date, this is a showstopper. Cheers, David

HI all Tested oon ACL v0.1.52 and Whatsapp (2.12.252-omrel1.0.15) and it works: Whatsapp had access to all the contacts that I had in the FFOS contact app. However, any contact added in the Whatsapp app was not synced with the contact app

I've tested with Whatsapp (2.12.287-omrel1.0.16) and ACL (0.1.55-SP7715) and found out, after restoring my backup, that Whatsapp made 4 copies of the contacts the Contact app. Can anyone else had this issue?

We are aware of a duplication of contacts that happens. We have released a new WhatsApp to improve this issue - the version number is the same as the prior WhatsApp. Please delete and reinstall WhatsApp before testing this again. Further refinements to contact sync are in the works as well.

HI again Still happens with the (2.12.287-omrel1.0.16) and ACL (0.1.55-SP7715) Why the word "undefined" appears? Also it only copies contacts from whatsapp to contact app if you add a new contact in Whatsapp. If you had previous contacts (added in Whatsapp) they don't appear in the Contact app even restoring a backup from whatsapp.

Hi all I've just seen trying to add a new contact in Whatsapp that there was a message saying that the contact will only be saved on the mobile device was there. Why is that?

I've just checked with ACL (0.1.57-SP7715) and Whatsapp (2.12.287-omrel1.0.17) and the good news is now there are no duplicate contacts in the COntact app because now the contact integration is not working at all. Not only the app didn't synced the contacts that were already (before installing Whatsapp) from the contact app but also none that were added later. Also, all the contacts that were on my Whatsapp account were not tranferred to the Contact app. So, in short, it is not working either way. Can anyone else check this out to make sure that it is not only happening to me? Thanks in advance

Hi all Found out what the issue was. If the contact you add on your Contact app is not registered on Whatsapp it will not appear on your contacts tab. It also works fine from Whatsapp to Contact App That was definetely the mistake. I was testing with contacts that had no whatsapp Sorry for the inconveniece

We have tested the WhatsApp for Android Contacts user experience. On stock Android when contacts are added to Android that do not have WhatsApp Accounts, they are not visible in WhatsApp. So what José Enrique experienced is by design. On a related note: It was pointed out and verified that non WhatsApp contacts Do show up on the IOS version of WhatsApp.
