As a Firefox champion, I proudly share www.m.o content on Facebook knowing that the embeds will almost always convey my enthusiasm with appropriate images and text.

I often want to promote www.m.o content on Facebook but the pages don't have the right metadata to make an attractive embed on Facebook. I end up not posting because I'm embarrassed by the card view of our web page. If we want to attract more people, we should be more attractive, right? These key pages I just tried to promote don't offer the best text and or images. https://careers.mozilla.org https://careers.mozilla.org/listings https://www.mozilla.org/contribute I'll bet there are other important pages that could be improved similarly. I didn't dig into product pages, just participation pages, in my first look around.
www.mozilla.org (bedrock) has lots of FB open graph and twitter meta data that is configurable on a page-by-page basis as seen here: <meta property="og:type" content="website"> <meta property="og:site_name" content="Mozilla"> <meta property="og:locale" content="en_US"> <meta property="og:url" content="https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/contribute/"> <meta property="og:image" content="https://mozorg.cdn.mozilla.net/media/img/mozorg/mozilla-256.c29a8b01d659.jpg"> <meta property="og:title" content="Volunteer Opportunities at Mozilla"> <meta property="og:description" content=""> <meta property="fb:page_id" content="262134952380"> <meta name="twitter:card" content="summary"> <meta name="twitter:site" content="@mozilla"> <meta name="twitter:domain" content="mozilla.org"> <meta name="twitter:app:name:googleplay" content="Firefox"> <meta name="twitter:app:id:googleplay" content="org.mozilla.firefox"> As for careers, it would need similar Fb open graph and twitter meta data to ensure the images/titles/descriptions are appropriate for social sharing. Probably worth doing on the careers site. The careers site should have its own bug since www.mozilla.org is just ensuring meta data makes sense to the page and careers will require template changes.
:jbertsch and :malexis should be able to address www.mozilla.org pages or the specific approach on update meta data on specific pages.
Hi Asa- Thanks for starting this conversation. The "share" text for /contribute currently states: Volunteer Opportunities at Mozilla is about more than lending a hand. It’s about learning, collaborating and sharing your skills with a global community of Mozillians — coders, organizers, activists and more — who help shape the Web every day. I'm adding Matej and Ty to help out with this bug. Picking a more vibrant image should be pretty easy. As for the copy, how do you suggest improving it? Making it more actionable? Thx, Jen PS Also adding Gregory Jost who owns the Careers site.
Hey Jen B- Could you please put this into the copy queue? I'm happy to chat about it more. Thx, Jen

I've got this on my radar. Is this something that needs to be broader than just the three pages highlighted? I'll schedule some time with you and Matej to talk through.

Here's some new copy for /contribute: Volunteering with Mozilla is about learning, collaborating and sharing your skills with a global community of coders, organizers, activists (and more) who help shape the Web every day. Find out how you can get involved.

I have a few options here we can try. Its a real challenge to find a single image that conveys what Mozilla is about. I used a similar treatment to represent the community on the updated Firefox OS page.

These look great, Ty. Not sure who the right person to ask about this, but is there any way to confirm that those people are all still with or contributing to Mozilla?
Pinging to check on next steps.
