User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.0; rv:39.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/39.0
Build ID: 20150630154324

Steps to reproduce:

Windows Vista
TB 38.1.0
Using three POP accounts - all using their own mail account - not global
and Local Folders
View > Folder > Unified.
All mail in my various Junk folders are all unread.

Actual results:

Junk(11)
> mail account 1 (11)
> mail account 2 (32)
> mail account 3 (7)
> Local Folders

the Unified Junk displays the number 11 and when I look in folder, it only displays 11.
They are the same as in account 1.

Expected results:

Junk(50)
> mail account 1 (11)
> mail account 2 (32)
> mail account 3 (7)
> Local Folders

Performed a right click on the Unified Junk folder > properties
Only 'Match all Mesages' is selected.
clicking on 'Update' had no effect.

checked in Safe Mode - no effect on result.
I expected the Unified Junk to display (50) in the count and also display all 50.
Was it correct in prior release?

Summary: Unified Junk count → Unified Junk folder message count is wrong
Checked other version and got sameresult.
So, I right click on 'Unified' Junk fodler and select properties.
To check to see what is or is not selected.
I discovered that it had automatically not selected all the accounts.
Once each accounts Junk folder had been selected, the count number is corrected.

So, I can confirm that the count is actually correct, but I have no idea why all the accounts 'Junk' folders were not auto selected in the first place.
Perhaps the real issue was not the count but the fact that all accounts were not auto selected when I selected 'View > Folders > Unified.

In the past, I have come across others mentioning that counts do not seem correct in Unified view, maybe that was the reason - not all accounts selected.

I thought when you selected Unified view, Junk like Inbox etc, would auto select all the accounts, but apparently not in my case.

correction:
re :I discovered that it had automatically not selected all the accounts.

It had only selected the default account, not the others.
When I enable the Unified folder view, and select properties of the Junk top folder, I see 0 folders selected in the list. But in the main folder pane, there are 4 Junk subfolders listed under the top-level Junk folder. That is strange. There are actually 5 junk folders which I can select (choose) in the properties, but not all 5 will show up as subfolders. Then I can't go back to the 0 folders selected as the dialog insists on having at least one folder chosen.

Under Trash, I have automatically 4 Trash folders chosen, but in the folder pane 5 folders are displayed as subfolders. So I am not sure changing the properties of these automatic virtual folders has any effect. Maybe it should be disabled?

rkent, do you have an idea how these virtual folders in the Unified folder view are supposed to work?

I don't have any specific knowledge of how the Unified folders are supposed to work, but I would assume that the Unified Junk folders virtual folder should include all Junk folders.

Does this reproduce in 115?

in beta 123.0b5
Changed to Unified view

Note: Only Inbox and Deleted are displaying any accounts as sub folders.
All the following Unified folders do not have any accounts listed as subfolders - Drafts, Templates, Sent, Archives, Junk

Junk - right click - select Properties. Nothing selected which explains why nothing is displayed.
In Properties: Selected both Imap Spam folders and also Local Folders Junk.

Actual Result

  • Unified Junk shows 6 unread and 9 total - expected and correct.
  • All the sub Junk folders do not show any total count for all accounts, but do show any 'unread' count for all accounts.
It's difficult to know which count is which when only one is being displayed - you have to hover over the folder to get the pop up tooltip line which will tell you both items then you know which one is actually displayed. It might be the unread or the total.
  • Only Local Folders is showing a size.

Expected Result

  • Unified Junk folder to display all the Junk/Spam folders for all accounts - should not have to do it manually.
  • Unified Junk to display both Unread total and Total count - this is correct and works.
  • All sub folders - account Junk/Spam to display all three of the following: Unread and total count and Size for each account - this does not occur.
  • All folders to show a size - did not occur.

re: Unified 'Sent' folder

  • Has no sub folders for various accounts - this is incorrect
  • Has a count of total 46 but nothing is displaying as no accounts have been selected - this is incorrect.
  • That total count of 46 does not match the actual counts in both imap Sent folders.

Right click on 'Unified Sent', select Properties and selected both Sent folders for both Imap accounts - must do this as the auto setup failed to add any accounts.

Actual REsults

  • Sub folders for imap account SEnt folders appear - but only after I had selected them in Properties.
  • Unified Sent folder has one number 63 - pop up tooltip says 63 total Messages - this is correct.
  • Sub folder Sent folders for account do not display any number - no totals of any kind - this is incorrect.
  • Sub folder SEnt folders for account do show popup tooltip stating total counts which are correct.
  • All subfolders show no size - this is incorrect.

Expected Result

  • Unified Sent folder to auto display all the Sent folders for all accounts - did not occur until I manually set it in Properties.
  • Unified Sent to display both Unread total and Total count even if zero - currently does not display both.
  • All sub folders - account Sent to display both Unread and total count and Size for each account even if zero.

Additional:
If you then uncheck View > Folders > Unified option
Then later reselect suddenly all the subfolders to Junk and Sent display count and size which are correct.
But the Drafts, Templates, Archives folders are still not auto selecting those accounts- so that will need to be a manual selection.

But after setting to use 'Unified', you should not need to set up Properties and select accounts nor need to close Unified and reselect just to get it to display counts.

Size is covered in a different bug report (at least for current version).

Thanks for the update.
However, with all the detail it's difficult to understand exactly which items fail and which are correct, so I'm not sure whether this should be closed. A clear label on each item would help.
