This probably involves having nice strings, and an icon. And testing.
Are you planning to do this yourself? (I was planning on asking Florian when he gets back from PTO.)

I can if needed, but I would not be very efficient at it, I think.

This means asking UX to have a look at it. Philipp, could you please figure out who is the right person to think this through?

I agree, Paul. Just didn't want to take away your fun if you really wanted to try to write some front end code. :-)

Thanks, Florian, for including Philipp. I wasn't certain who in UX to ping.

Philipp -- We're just looking for something simple to prompt the user (similar to how we prompt for microphone and camera access).
Could you explain to me what that functionality does and when it surfaces?
I don't fully understand it from the information in this bug, sorry...

This is the audio equivalent of video screensharing (what we already have in release today). Just like we need to bring up a prompt to ask the user if he/she gives permission to share the video elements on his/her screen/window/tab/app with the other party, we need to bring up a prompt to ask the user if he/she gives permission to share the audio elements. Until we have this, we can't pref on and ship the audio sharing feature. For audio, we can leverage much of the existing logic and design we have for video if we choose. To Padenot's original comment, we likely just need nice strings and a new icon to indicate audio sharing (if we're just looking to do the minimum -- which is fine with me).

Let me know if you need further explanation. Both Florian and Padenot understand the use cases/user stories; they can also help explain if anything's unclear or unanswered.
