We are no longer accepting whitelist applications. NPAPI plugins are a legacy technology and NPAPI support may be removed in a future version of Firefox.

(In reply to Benjamin Smedberg [:bsmedberg] from comment #1) > We are no longer accepting whitelist applications. The question what type of plugins will be supported in future versions and if we will be able to use NPAPI plugin for detection only, it means check in JavaScript Myme type string of plugin.

In general detection should not be possible unless the user has opted into install a Firefox extension. At that point you can use the pagemod extension API to do detection.

Thanks and additional question whether Firefox extension can be installed as part of native client installation or only via Firefox browser ?

You can make it available to Firefox via a native installation, but it will not be active by default unless the user chooses to enable it in the Firefox addons manager.
