This is based on some of Mic's mockups from the wiki.

The first mockup had a description of:

This is perhaps related to bug 954103.

It seems to me that including a list of events like this would be confusing / overwhelming. Most of these 'events' really apply to a conversation, not in general and would thus be better in individual conversations.

This could also be related to the activity/summary tab idea, with one tab showing everything that happened recently.

I think the problem these mockups were trying to solve is "I just heard Instantbird make a sound, and I didn't focus my blist window quickly enough to see what was animating there".
