Steps to reproduce:

I installed latest Flash x64 plugin (current 18 or beta 19, no matter) and Latest x64 Nightly. Then I open site to check for flash running: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

My system is Win 8.1 Pro x64, using local admin account. 
Clean Firefox Nightly profile.


Actual results:

There is no flash detected on test page when e10s is on. When I turn e10s off in Options after restart flash is detected and working correctly. Again e10s on and flash disappears.



Expected results:

Flash should work with e10s on, I suppose.

Curiously, e10s on or off flash plugin is detected in about:plugins

I don't know if it's a bug or some incompatibility but is there a way to have flash plugin working in Nightly with e10s mode on out of the box ?

I can't reproduce this in 64-bit nightly on win7.

Thanks. So it could be OS dependent (Win 8.1 here). Unfortunately I don't have machines with other OSes. I tried 32-bit Nightly however and outcome is the same. No flash with e10s on, when turned off Multi-Process all works.

Hi Larus.

Would you mind trying this with the content sandbox turned off.

This can be done by setting the following environment variable before starting Firefox:
MOZ_DISABLE_CONTENT_SANDBOX=1

Hi.

Sure. With that env. variable it works. But coincidentally today my flash plugin has been updated to newer version: 19.0.0.133 and that apparently fixed the problem. Now with or without MOZ_DISABLE_CONTENT_SANDBOX set flash is running. I don't know how but the bug is non-existent now.

Hi. I am also on Win 8.1 and I am experiencing a very similar bug with flash and e10s on the latest Nightly. Flash stops working whenever I visit the about:addons page and click the Plugins tab. 

Steps to reproduce:

1. Launch Nightly with e10s enabled.
2. Open https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/ and note that Flash is listed.
3. Open about:addons and click the Plugins tab. 
4. Revisit https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/

Actual results:

Plugin check site says: "No plugins were found. If you believe this is an error, please file a bug and let us know."

From this point on Flash appears to be completely disabled/unrecognized. For instance, if I try to visit twitch.tv it will prompt me to download Flash and no streams will play. 

Restarting the browser fixes this problem until I visit the Plugins tab on about:addons again.

Expected results:

Visiting the Plugins tab on about:addons should not disable flash for that session. It also seems to disable my other plugins such as google update as well because they are also not recognized by the plugin check site.

Similarly to Larus's situation, all my plugins are still listed when I visit about:plugins. 

This is fixed when I turn off e10s. MOZ_DISABLE_CONTENT_SANDBOX=1 does not fix it.
