On 64 bit linux(Ubuntu 15.10) I downloaded and installed 32 bit version of firefox 38.0.1(tar,bz2 file). I had to use it with separately installed 32 bit old version of java plugin, so I tried to override plugins path setting MOZ_PLUGIN_PATH env variable. On 38.0.1 this seemed to work - my custom plugins dir was searched before system plugins dir (64 bit) and correct 32bit version of java plugin was picked up. But after I upgraded to 39.0(using FF built-in update) I found out that system plugins path (/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins) was searched first and wrong 64-bit version of java plugin was picked up. Screenshot of about:plugins screen is attached.

¡Hola Dmitry! Is this still an issue with Nightly from https://nightly.mozilla.org/ ?
Flags: needinfo?(dmitry.a.durnev)
I'm not able to try 32-bit nightly(or 42.x) on my ubuntu 15.10 x64 distro since 32-bit dependencies on gtk3 libraries are unresolved.(new library libmozgtk.so has these). Upgraded my 39 to 40.0.3 and still the issue is reproducible.
