At some zoom levels, some vertical strokes of letters n and f outlined as paths are omitted on Firefox 39.0 and 42.0a1 (Nightly). I didn't experience this on Windows, just Linux (Ubuntu 14.04). Other browsers/image viewers seem to have no problems with this situation.
Did it use to work in the previous versions of Firefox?

I have no idea, just noticed this now. I guess I'd have to set up a VM with an old version to try.

O.K., here's some more info. I tried Firefox in both Unity and LXDE deskotp environments on Ubuntu 14.04 as well as with --safe-mode. I get the faulty behavior there. I also tried in a Lubuntu 14.04 VirtualBox VM and rendering was as expected for both Firefox 39 and 40. Maybe this has something to do with the graphics card/driver, so here are the respective outputs of lshw -c video: Faulty rendering: *-display description: VGA compatible controller product: 2nd Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller vendor: Intel Corporation physical id: 2 bus info: pci@0000:00:02.0 version: 09 width: 64 bits clock: 33MHz capabilities: msi pm vga_controller bus_master cap_list rom configuration: driver=i915 latency=0 resources: irq:46 memory:f0000000-f03fffff memory:e0000000-efffffff ioport:5000(size=64) Correct rendering: *-display UNCLAIMED description: VGA compatible controller product: VirtualBox Graphics Adapter vendor: InnoTek Systemberatung GmbH physical id: 2 bus info: pci@0000:00:02.0 version: 00 width: 32 bits clock: 33MHz capabilities: vga_controller bus_master configuration: latency=0 resources: memory:e0000000-e0ffffff Anything else I can do to narrow down the problem?
Could you type about:support in the locatin bar and copy here the section "graphics".
