+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #913503 +++

Similar to bug 913503 but it got worse. Much worse.

One approach, that was discussed in bug 913503, would be to have the compositor thread own a parent window that could be tied to the layer tree. That way we could set position on that window easily with the compositor without blocking on the main thread.

But perhaps, like bug 913503, we can find a simpler solution.

I think this is a dupe of bug 1157708. Jim is working on something that might help fix it in bug 1137944.
