We've seen timeouts in mach commands while building going back to late March:

In the past week, they've become so frequent that they have closed the trees multiple times. gps has indicated that upgrading python *might* fix these issues since the bug appears to be in multiprocessing: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1191877#c27

We should do this on all build platforms if we're going to do it at all. I would suggest tackling OS X first (bug 1191877) since the upgrade is more self-contained, but will still give us valuable data about whether the upgrade is effective.

Wow, my memory must be shot after another newborn -- I don't recall this at all, nor if there is any sort of urgency here.

Sigh, I wish we could get things done in finite time. Are we pushing all our hopes and dreams into TC then?

Building will soon be done exclusively in TC, so we'll fix this there.
