As far as I can tell no errors are being generated in zamboni. It's not even hitting webpay. So its either an nginx or device side error.

I believe nssFailure2 refers to secure connection failed, so we wouldn't see this come through to the application. I am checking our load balancer logs to make sure nothing strange is happening with TLS, we haven't changed these settings in a while.

I didn't see anything unusual at our load balancer, nothing in the logs. Is it possible to get more debugging information from the client which includes detailed request information?

There is 2 issues. 1. An unidentified connection error. 2. Gecko L10n error. For the issue 2, it is related to gecko l10n on the client product. Thanks, Stas. L10nError will related to side effect of the requested url length (too long), and occures inside gecko on client side. IMO, this L10nError should be separated to this bug. Here is a proposed patch to fix the 500 error on the Webpay server: https://github.com/mozilla/webpay/pull/641 I'm not sure what 'connection to the server was reset' is about. Comment #10 makes me think it was to do with a long URL when the JWT (a base 64 encoded string) is too long but that should yield a 414 status code, not a reset a connection. We fixed a bug for this recently by increasing the max URI length in nginx. Maybe it's still too short? Jason, what is the current max at? The reason the JWTs are so long is because Marketplace includes localizations for all supported locales. Also, we are stuck with transmitting JWTs as GET parameters because of poorly designed client code (oops).

large_client_header_buffers is configured to 32K (4x the default). Do we need to increase this? What value do you think this needs to be so that we don't encounter this in the future?

That makes sense because the description length was 30,561 before, not counting the rest. Could we up it to 256K without adverse effects? I don't know at what limit this would become a DoS'ing concern. We do need to come up with a better fix for this but in the meantime there could be a lot of localizations jammed in there.
