I happened to once start mozilla in a strange way and discovered that the
e-mail:compose window has a spell-check button.  I've never seen it before or
since on my own mozilla but have seen it on others (So I know I wasn't seeing
things :-)

I started with 0.9.3 and have now reached 0.9.7.

My guess is something in my ~/.mozilla directory isn't being updated.
it's hidden because we don't have a spellchecking engine yet.
