Steps to reproduce:

browser.newtab.url is a very important feature for most users, because the USER can edit it to what the USER wants.

I need this feature to change newtab page to about:blank to open a new clean site without anything on it.


Actual results:

On my old profile-folder browser.newtab.url doesn't do anything under 41.0b1.
Then I created a new test-profile under 41.0b1 and the feature is missing in about:config.


Expected results:

browser.newtab.url should work. It is essentially for the Project Firefox. 
I switched back to 40.0 final and I'm happy with that feature.

Please bring this feature back!
I hope Firefox doesn't become Chrome. Otherwise I must look for alternatives ...

You see, this is one of the features why firefox is so popular!
