(Signing) Can't upload an externally hosted version of an addon that is also hosted on AMO

Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:38.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/38.0
Build ID: 20150514102509
Steps to reproduce:
If an addon is already on AMO, but self-hosted versions are also available, the self-hosted versions cannot be signed. The only two possibilities seem to be to keep the AMO listing and the addon is rejected for updateURL, or select don't host and lost the AMO listing.
Sorry about the version. I have no idea, just whatever the link is on AMO for uploading and signing addons.

It's unclear if we will ever support this, given the complexity it would add to the site. Currently, the best workaround is to use different IDs for each distribution.

I don't think this is something we'll support, as :jorgev says different IDs for each distribution would work.

There is a proposal to support this in the future: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1OH2iZ7aT9otFJvGTX1UR6pAm58u7ph2Uw8_Zv2Sl8Tk/edit#
Whether we'll get there or not remains to be seen.
